Why you should test and tag
All electrical appliances must be tested to AS/NZS3760:2010 to ensure safety of staff,clients and building and ensures compliance when audits are conducted by work-safe,work-cover, fire and emergency services or industry regulator.
As per AS/NZS3760:2010 all Portable Electrical Appliances that are connected to a generator or a fixed electrical supply that are equipped with a flexible lead and plug should be tested at specific intervals depending on use and the environment they are used in.
- Visual test – leads,plugs ,covers and safety devices
- Earth Bond Test – Class 1 appliance earth test
- Insulation test – 500V insulation test , this is reduced to 250V on sensitive equipment and surge protected equipment to prevent damage to the (EUT )equipment under test
- Earth Leakage test – run test is conducted by starting the EUT and monitoring the leakage voltage. If it is over the minimum requirement of 5mA for class 1 appliances it is failed.NEW EQUIPMENT
All new equipment that is put into service must have a “new to service tag” attached to the appliance.

Best practice,as recommended by Test Right Services, is to test all new equipment as per AS/NZS3760:2010 . This also serves to have an accurate asset list of all equipment in use on the site and peace of mind that the new equipment is safe to use.

Electrical and electronic products sold into the Australian and New Zealand market must be RCM ( Regulatory Compliance Mark) compliant. Make sure your equipment is compliant and have the c-tick logo.
Testing RCD’s (Safety Switches)
Tested as per AS/NZS3760:2010 . Trip Time tests and Push Button Tests conducted 24,12,6 and 3 monthly depending on location and use.
The PAT machine has a built in RCD testing facility and all test results are stored and downloaded to the software for reporting. All these results are included in the test and tag reports provided by Test Right services.
Why you should inspect and test fire equipment
As a building owner or occupier you have a responsibility to ensure all fire equipment is inspected on a regular basis as per AS1851:2012 standards guide lines.
Visual inspection looking for damage and rust on the cylinder. Making sure all instructions are legible and without deterioration. A fire location sign is installed above the equipment as per standards. making sure the equipment has a service tag attached to the unit.
The fire extinguisher is removed from the bracket for testing. Bracket is checked as well as all fittings on the equipment. Anti tamper is replaced and pressure checked on the gauge if equipped. The Fire extinguisher is weighed and checked as per unit specs. The extinguisher is cleaned and the service tag is stamped with the appropriate service level number .
All data is entered into the PAT machine Fire Testing Module and PDF reports are extracted via the software.
